MY BODY, MY HOUSE (Español)
"Now also when I am old and greyheaded, O God,forsake me not" PSALM 71:18
Every woman knows she must someday grow old and lose the bloom of youth. Yet when it
begins to happen, she registers shock. Wrinkles appear overnight. She sees the law of gravity
pulling on her underarms and chin and everything below the chin. Who would have ever thought it
could happen to her?
Proverbs Chapter 31 describes God's Total Woman. One of her chief characteristics is "no fear
of old age" because she follows His plan for her,day-by-day. He makes life so great there's not
much time to fret about the bags and sags, much less time to fear them.
While my girls and I were talking about life one day, I told them, " Your body is actually a shell,
a 'house' you wear. The real you wich is inside your body will someday leave. So if anything
happens to your body, it won't affect the real you. Even if you were in an accident and your arms
and legs were cut off, the real you wouls still be intact inside."
To me, that's very comforting. Knowing that God designed my house takes great pressure off
me. I am not going to fight His design. Someday we'll be free of these bodies and their diseases
and limitations, but for now we're stuck inside. I'll change what I can and accept what I can't.
